Yesterday there was an interesting article on the BBC about how the UK is sleeping under lockdown. For more than a year I have been wearing a FitBit that, amongst other things, tracks my sleep duration. It took me mere seconds to load up the app and have a look to see if I was showing this trend too compared to this time last year.

I would argue that the above screenshots show quite a stark decrease in the amount of sleep that I am getting now compared to the same months last year. Whilst last year there was a dip in my average sleep duration (for a currently unknown reason) around this sort of time it is clear that the current dip is significantly deeper than last year’s.

What are the long-term consequences of this I wonder?
